Serving More Abused Girls

The urgent need of Ecuadorian girls becoming pregnant through sexual abuse cannot wait for Naomi’s Village to be complete, and we are caring for a growing number of girls in any ways we can.  Our latest girl (her name is withheld to protect her privacy) was the victim of sexual abuse from age 8, and now at age 15 has a young baby.  Her older sister, herself a victim and now mother of three, arranged for her to be removed from the setting where she was being abused by their uncle and move her in to live with her.

The situation for these girls and their children is quite desperate.  This newly formed family lives in one of the poorest sections of Portoviejo, the provincial capital of Manabi.  The need for help is acute and constant, as their income prospects are extremely limited.

In response, La Prosperina volunteers are visiting them regularly, bringing groceries, household necessities, love, and encouragement.  They also transport the young mother and her baby to medical and other appointments.  There are also psychological, legal, and spiritual needs to be met. But most importantly, these ladies pray with the girls that the Lord would surround them with His love and truly “supply all their needs.” (Philippians 4:19)

“So very often I am very discouraged about what the judicial system can do in this case.   We are poor and have lost hope that justice will be made,” the older sister says.

Please join us in prayer for this family. We are confident that Christ’s love, ministered by these volunteers, will move in power to heal and restore hope for these two sisters and their children.
